Last night story

Again about life. It always teaches me new lessons each time I went through new experience. I am really appreciate the life that I am going through now. To see every single scenario happens in our life from bigger picture is not easy. Some people they just happen to see what in front of their eyes. Some can see beyond the wall. Not because they have sixth sense but due to experiences that they have gone through. Last night I have had conversation with my friend. It actually began with common conversation. But turned out to a very futuristic and realistic one. As we both are postgraduates, we talked about the situation that most of postgraduate especially master students always have. Actually I am the one that talked most last night. Many things that play around my mind regarding this.

Firstly is about Potential. What potential? I believe every single person has their own potential. But they just do not know how to draw out the potential out from their inner-self. People further their study just because two main reason. Firstly, they really love to explore knowledge and gain the knowledge in a guided way. While another reason because they really have nothing to do or they are not yet ready to jump into working environment. So they further study. The one that really further their study with passion and excitement, they actually have a potential to develop. Because deep in their heart, the feeling of exploring knowledge is about to explode. They are eager, excited, passion, curious… they hope by furthering study, they will explore new knowledge and sharpen their understanding.

Unfortunately, the thing didn't not go smoothly. They didn't get what they hope. They were left unguided. Then it led to a situation where they were no longer have interest in what they were doing. Their passion, curiosity, excitement disappeared. Not because of the difficulties they faced in their study, but because of they felt unguided. Everything they have to work up by their self.

Supervisors. They play a very important role in developing students' potential. To dig up what is inside the students. Not to treat the students like machines. Just asking for the output. Doesn't matter how, the most and most important to them is output. Doesn't even care the welfare of the students.

I sometimes really don't understand what the supervisors want from their students. Are they producing machines or researchers? Many students they are just can't wait to finish the study and get out from this 'hell'. So called maybe. They are suffering doing their research. Why? Because they do that not from their hearts. They just feel like having no choice but to face it. When they finish their study, the knowledge disappear as they have no more interest in the field. The system. Machine produces machine.

Some students they just want to be encouraged so that they can give their full swing. To really jump into the field. They hope so… but the system is not like that.

So, what will happen to them? Their passion? All gone…
